If you are a blogger or own a site, you know the importance of page rank and search engine rankings. If you want to make money, your site should be on the first page of your desired keyword(s). More importantly, if you want to make more money as a pro blogger, you need decent page rank. How can you do that in the quickest way possible with the least amount of effort? Read on.

My Getting Out of Debt Blog was a huge money maker for me.  Most importantly, it was a challenge I took.  I was able to defy the myth that .info domains are buried by Google and masking a domain is detrimental.  Don't believe everything you read!  Before the penalty, it had a page rank of 4 even though it didn't have many social bookmarking links. What links did it have? I had forum links, links from other blogs and links from article and web directories. Unfortunately, when Google went on a rampage penalizing payperpost blogs I was penalized. I lost my page rank and my coveted spot on the top of the first page of Google.  On the top of the first page, I was getting tons of hits. What did that mean? On a daily basis I received lots of affiliate commissions, adsense clicks and referrals to my income producing sites. Just like that, it all disappeared in about 2006.

What happened?  I lost interest with the site, let it sit and went on to other profitable projects such as traffic exchanges and link building. However, I started earning money with adsense with another site and decided to do some link building to improve my debt blog's page rank. You're probably wondering why bother? Personal finance keywords are worth more than the keywords for my other site. I was missing out on some real adsense money!

I used all the usual link building methods:
social bookmarking
forum links
links from blogs
do follow blog commenting

I also got:
2 .edu links.

That put me on page one and increased my page rank to PR3. Since then, my site dances from the bottom of the first page to the top of the second page. However, my income has started picking up from adsense clicks, commissions, etc.

Now all I have to do is start posting on my sites again to increase my adsense dramatically. Let the blogging begin!

Have any questions? Feel free to do so. I'm here to help!

I had a similar experience w/ Google; PR down graded but still not sure why. However, the PR doesn't seem to bother the traffic given we receive about the same amount of traffic since the PR change.

Thx for the post - something to consider for sure.
